Ballet slippers

Ballet slippers are one of the most important pieces of gear any burgeoning ballerina can purchase. They are vital to many of the movements required during most ballet dance routines. They are designed to be flexible and allow the foot to stretch.

Ballet slippers should not be confused with pointe shoes. Pointe shoes are designed for “pointe work” and have a rigid structure around the toes and a solid shank designed to support the arch of the foot. Slippers, on the other hand, are soft and designed to be flexible.

Properly fitting ballet slippers can be quite comfortable. This is essential for long workouts and performances. However, many dancers find these shoes so comfortable that they wear them even away from the dance studio.
